Ayesha Takia pairs with John Abraham
After winning hearts with her terrific performance in Nagesh Kukunoor’s Dor , Ayesha Takia has now signed another important project with lots of prospect for showing her histrionics.
She has been paired with John Abraham in Anurag Kashyap’s film No Smoking . Kashyap had previously approached Bipasha Basu for the role but she had turned it down due to unspecified reasons.
Kashyap says he had also narrated the script to Ayesha some time back. Moreover, the film’s producers, Vishal Bhardwaj and Kumar Mangat, approved of Ayesha.
Ayesha is presently shooting for a movie in Cape Town. But she has reportedly given her nod to the project. She will play a double role in the movie.
‘No Smoking’ has John playing a chain smoker who joins a rehab to quit the habit. How his life changes after that is what the movie is about.
The film’s shooting has already begun.

Ayesha Takia refuses to Kiss!
According to him, at first, he was stunned when somebody suggested Ayesha's name for the role. But he knew that Naseer did cast her in his movie, he thought there must be something to her.
"I watched some scenes from Socha Na Tha, and she emerged as a really natural actress. What really did it for me were the emotions on her face. She's fantastic.
I'm sure Tabu and Juhi would have given powerhouse performances, but I think, in this story, the only way to create empathy is to keep the character younger," he gushes.
Apparently floored by Takia, Nagesh offered her a role in his next film but we hear that she has refused the film as there's a kiss was involved in it.
According to insiders, Ayesha loved the script but given its kissing situation she has no option but to reject the offer.
But this is not the first time she had rejected any movie on the similar grounds. Ayesha also gave thumbs down to Yash Raj's ‘Neil N Nikki’ as she was adamant not to kiss on screen.
But still Nagesh is full of praise for Ayesha.
"It comes as a pleasant surprise to see a two-year old in the industry trying her hand at a new genre. At a time, when she is not even considered a bankable star to sell an art house product, her decision to act in a de-glamorised set up is laudatory," he exclaims.
Way to go Miss Takia!

When Ayesha Takia escaped death
The mishap left Ayesha on railway tracks next to a running train, a report quoted the producer of the film as saying.
During shooting for the Nagesh Kukunoor directed venture in Rajasthan, Ayesha, 21, decided to do her own stunt, executive producer Elahi said.
"It was a train sequence and Ayesha had to run alongside the train," Elahi said. "Suddenly we couldn't see her any more. We all thought that she must have come under the train," he said.
Ayesha tripped over a pipe and landed right next to the rails, Elahi said. He said she was injured but provided no details.
"She was very close to the tracks, luckily she was alive," Elahi said.
'Dor', slated for release on September 22, canvases the journey of two women from different worlds and how these two sets of lives come together through a tryst of destiny.
It is produced by Sahara One Motion Pictures in collaboration with Percept Picture Company and Sic Productions.
Apart from Ayesha, the film also stars Gul Panag , Shreyas Talpade , Girish Karnad and Pratiksha Lonkar.
The film's music is by Salim-Suleiman.

Personal quotes
"Bobby Deol worked with Abbas-Mustan [in 'Humraaz'] and they are good friends. I was in his home production, and so he told them about me. Abbas-Mustan thought 'Kabhi Socha Na Tha' will release first and were hence reluctant to cast me. But a few days later, they called me and told me I was in 'Taarzan'."
"In 'Taarzan', I play a London-based girl who comes to India to study. Of course, Vatsal and I fall in love. I have been strictly told not to reveal anything more. My producer and directors will be furious if I start telling the public what they should expect in the film. I think many films do not fare well even in the initial stages, simply because the publicity gives it all away. Thank God, we have carefully guarded it. 'Taarzan' is a very clean film which can be seen with your family. You will not squirm in your seats like you did in some recent films."
"Firstly, I cannot do what Meghna Naidu, Mallika Sherawat or Neha Dhupia did in 'Hawas', 'Murder', and 'Julie' respectively. Neither can I do a 'Girlfriend.' Yes, I can wear short tops and minis, but I would be uncomfortable wearing anything more revealing. And don't forget Bhagyashree and Juhi Chawla never did any bold and brazen stuff in their first ventures to get noticed. 'Taarzan' will get noticed, and then, so will Vatsal and me."
"I have been doing ads since I was four years old. I must have done 60 ads by now. Ever since I was five, I had told my relatives I wanted to be an actress. My first music video was Falguni Pathak's 'Meri Chuna'r when I was 15. Then came 'Shake It Daddy', which brought me a lot of recognition."
"It has always been my dream to be an actress and God has blessed me with what I have. I completely love it and enjoy it thoroughly and being in front of the camera gives me a real high. And people like my fans give me so much love which I really respect and thankful for."
"As an actress I want to do all roles that would inspire or challenge me. The first film that I did was not like the usual commercial flick, so I am trying to do varied roles."
"A person I would like to date would definitely be someone who I could respect and look up to. Someone with loads of manners and someone who loves my family someone who loves cinema and basically uses more of his heart then his mind and someone who loves me as a person, and the most important thing is that I have to respect him. Because you cannot love someone who you don't respect."
